Our teachers focus on preparing each of our students for Kindergarten and beyond. . .

Kindergarten is not what it used to be.

The expectations for children entering Kindergarten is also not what it used to be. Years ago, children would go to Kindergarten to learn their letters and numbers. Now they start addition, subtraction, and expect children to already be able to write their names and recognize sounds. School districts also expect children to be past the separation anxiety many children experience being away from their parents, be able to sit and focus on a lesson, complete tasks that are given to them without getting distracted, and have the social and emotional development to be in a room with 30 other children their age.

As you can see there are high expectations for incoming Kindergarteners. This is where Little Saints can help. We use a research based approach that is individually tailored to each child to help them reach their full potential and prepare them for their educational future.

Cherubs Preschool Class:

We offer the educational and social aspects of a preschool as well as full day child care. In the Cherubs class, the children have the time to build strong friendships with their classmates.

The curriculum in the Cherubs class is multifaceted. We encourage children to learn through play, cooperation, listening, sharing, communication, and stretching their imaginations. We use educational themes that are typically bi-weekly. These themes include “I am Special”, “Community Helpers”, “Winter”, “Sign language”, and “Oceans” to name a few. Theme related toys and activities are added to the classroom to encourage play and discovery. We read a theme based book and have an art project or theme based activity daily. Along with our themes we have a “Letter of the Week” there are daily activities involving the Letter of the Week. These are usually group activities so all children are talking about letters and sounds every day. Physical activity is very important for young children, so we include as much time outside as possible in our daily routine. When the weather prevents us from going outside we have activities to get our bodies moving while inside.

Our bathroom is equipped with several different toilet seats and a changing table to help children in any stage of potty training.

In the Cherubs classroom we strive to treat each child as the gift from God that they are and provide them with the care a parent would if they could be with them.
